Hello, I'm Shelley. Originally from Nova Scotia, I'm currently living in Edmonton, Alberta. After completing my Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degrees, I went on to earn my Master of Education Degree in Literacy Education. After spending more than 12 years in the supplemental education field, I decided that offering these services privately would allow me to focus on the aspects of education that I am passionate about:  assessment, phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, reading, and fine motor/printing skills! I have worked with countless students over the years who have found learning to read difficult in the traditional classroom. I love being able to build their confidence by showing them they can read when they really understand the structure of our language and by providing evidence-based remediation. I am a certified Associate with the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. Additionally, I have completed introductory and advanced workshops in Structured Word Inquiry (SWI). I'm also a mom to two boys who always keep me smiling and on my toes.
